Cake:

buttermilk

tsp
vanilla

eggs, beaten
a dash of salt
Frosting:
1/2
cup
butter

tbsp
cocoa

tsp
vanilla

milk

powdered sugar
1
cup
chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
Cake:
Preheat oven to 400F. Grease and flour a 12×18 sheet pan.
Sift together flour and sugar in a large mixing blow
Mix together butter, shortening, cocoa, and water in a saucepan over medium-low heat; bring to a boil.
Pour the butter mixture over the sifted flour and sugar. Mix well.
Add in buttermilk, baking soda, cinnamon, vanilla, eggs, and salt; mix well. Pour into the prepared sheet pan.
Bake 20 minutes. Five minutes before cake is done, prepare frosting.
Frosting:
In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter; add cocoa, vanilla, and milk. Bring to a boil.
Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and (optional) nuts. Mix well.
Pour the frosting over the cake while hot.
